Kara-mon (Chinese gate); Kencho-ji
This exquisite combination of the golden Chinese gate and the flowers of lotus is peculiar to this bright season.
The curves and textures of the copper and tile roofs are forming a beautiful rhythmical pattern, which makes me feel the music of silence.

Kara-mon (Chinese gate): Kencho-ji
Peony flowers were introduced from China into Japan in the 8th century. In China, and also in Japan, a peony flower is traditionally appreciated as the queen of flowers and is regarded as the most auspicious flower of all as well as a beautiful emblem of eternal youth and happiness.
This black-lacquered gate in Chinese-style, which is originally prepared for guests of honor, is splendidly decorated with various gilded figures of auspicious omens which include the figures of peony flowers.

High white clouds are slowly floating in the azure sky.

The Kara-mon (Chinese-style gate) of Kencho-ji
The glassy black lacquer and the gilt bronze ornaments of the Kara-mon were magnificently shining before my eyes in the slightly declined sun of the late afternoon.
This Kara-mon (Chinese-style gate) was recently restored as it was when built in the 17th century to reestablish the ancient glory of this old temple.
