Kawazu-zakura (Cerasus lannesiana 'Kawazu-zakura') flowers: Kawakita-kinenkan (Kamakura)
The fresh rosy colour of the Kawazu-zakura flower makes me notice that the residue of winter have completely disappeared and that the height of spring is now approaching here moment by moment doubtlessly.
This joyful season of regrowth is clearly advancing towards its climax, and the vital activities of all living things must be fully awakened from their long winter slumber.
Soon cherry blossoms will enter full bloom all at once all around in the blessed sunlight, proclaiming me the grand sight of this lively season.

Kawazu-zakura (Cerasus × kanzakura ‘Kawazu-zakura’) flowers: Engaku-ji
With the arrival of spring, everything is gradually coming to life again. The lively chirping of a bush warbler has just begun to be heard from somewhere, and the rose-colored flowers of Kawazu-zakura have come into full bloom as if to heartily rejoice the pleasant breeze which has come back to this garden.
Gloomy ｗinter has changed to spring at last and the bright sunshine must surely return soon. The seasons keep spinning unceasingly and the eagerly-awaited season of regrowth and breeding has arrived unfailingly as the flowers tell me.

Mejiro (Zosterops japonicus) bird: Engaku-ji
The light magenta flowers of Kawazu-zakura have just come into full bloom to notify us of the arrival of long-awaited spring. In the warm sunlight from the bright blue sky, wintry gloom and chill cannot be felt any longer.
A Mejiro (silvereye) bird is absorbedly flying from flower to flower to suck the sweet nectar of these fresh flowers and to fully enjoy its precious share of this spring glory.
According to the ceaseless revolution of our planet earth around the sun, the seasons continue to rotate and everything keeps changing without any break.

Thanks to the air temperature and sunshine duration which increase day by day, various spring flowers start blooming hurriedly one after another.
The subtle and sweet fragrance emitted by these flowers stealthily spreads into the air to awake living things from their long winter sleep gently.
Soon an enormous number of new green leaves will emerge in unison and be sure to fill the world with their bright and lively colors of life.

Kawazu-zakura (Japanese cherry) flowers: Engaku-ji
In accord with the earth's revolution and rotation, living organisms keep cycling the sequence of their lives.
The flowers of each season bloom beautifully and fade away quietly by their own private nature.
The cherry blossoms are silently blooming above me without unveiling their secret stories and histories. Although I rejoin them every spring, I know nothing about them but their curious given-name and touching beauty.

Kawazu-zakura blossoms: Engaku-ji
Shifting seasons cause flowers to bloom in various shapes and colors and flowers tell us of the coming of a new season with their beauty and scents.
A flower is sent to us as a silent messenger of season, that may let us know the existence of the secret entity which determines the perpetual cycle of seasons and the way things really are.
Now spring is here and, in a spectacular manner, the flowers of this regrowth season have begun to blossom brilliantly with one accord.

Basking in the warm spring sunshine, the pale pink flowers and fresh leaves of Kawazu-zakura are shining brilliantly.
The dark shade of the eaves of the small shrine is relieving this moment of beauty strikingly.

Kawazu-zakura is an early-flowering variety of Sakura (Japanese cherry), which tells us of the appearance of spring.
These elegant pale pink flowers are announcing beforehand that the best time of cherry blossoms will soon arrive here.

Kawazu-zakura (Prunus lannesiana cv. Kawazu-zakura) flowers in Engaku-ji
The pale pink blossoms of a Kawazu-zakura tree, which is an early-flowering Japanese cherry tree, are opening all at once in the soft sunlight of this budding season.
Though the calendar says it has been spring, the warmth of this season is not here yet.
Soon the warm bright sun will roll around again high up in the air and the garden of Zen will become alive afresh with the birds, insects and flowers which proclaim spring happily.
These early-flowering cherry blossoms make us believe that our long-awaited springtime will surely arrive here in a little while.
