Ajisai (Hydrangea) flowers: Eisho-ji
A bamboo grove is one giant living organism in its entirety and its countless green stalks are coming out from a single web of underground stems.
As the sunlight and heat of summer increase gradually towards the end of the rainy season, the bamboo grove continues to grow more and more vigorously and are filling this shady garden with its gentle blaze of life force.
As if to perceive the abundant life force that is pervading this grove, the pale flames of the hydrangea flowers are burning calmly in a corner of this green garden.

Image of Bodhidharma: Kencho-ji
A granite image of Bodhidharma in meditation is sitting firmly in the isolated grove of midsummer.
Numerous cicadas are devotedly singing their songs of courtship as if to have noticed the approaching end of summer and their lives.

Bamboo grove: Jochi-ji
In the bright light of midsummer, a bamboo grove becomes most beautiful and full of life.
The subtle composition of its rigid trunks and vivid green blades discloses the particular life force that only this brilliant season can bring to us.
The upright bamboo trunks, each of which grows almost one node per day in summer, are taking on various colors like wild flowers.
Seasons are passing swiftly like the wind while leaving their own invaluable but transient pictures on our minds.

Bamboo grove: Kencho-ji
In the bright sunlight of late summer, a lazy hot wind is slowly shaking
the thick green leaves of the bamboo grove and making soft rustling sounds like
the murmuring of an invisible stream deep in the grove.
Like a constant crisp wind, seasons are flowing swiftly and relentlessly before my eyes, leaving the transient but precious visions of life in my mind.
