The winter seashore: at Shichirigahama-beach

In the golden glow of the setting sun, the waves washing the shore are sparking softly in the clear evening chill.

The biting wind of winter has calmed down finally and only the continuous sound of the sea is floating along the empty raven-black shore.

Kunihiko-san,

Love every one of your photos. I'm rather new at photography myself-- I can only hope to one day be so good myself! Still, whether my photos are good or bad, it is an awakening experience to rediscover the world through the lens of one's camera, isn't it. I never notice the cold, or the time on a walk with my camera:-)

It happens that I'm just up the Tokaido-sen from you-- Totsuka, Maioka-cho, where it's possible to a great many more birds than one would ever think possible in such an urban environment. Next time you see an American lady with a camera in Kita-kamakura, say hello-- it might be me!

Dear Yokohamamama,

Thank you for your kind comment. I am very happy to know that you enjoyed my photos.

Although the cold persists still, Ume (Japanese apricot) flowers begin to bloom everywhere to let us know the arrival of spring. Soon the vivid yellow and vermilion flowers of Mitsumata (Oriental paper-bush) will open one after another in the gardens of March. The flower buds of Sakura are growing steadily on the cherry trees.

Before long, Kita-kamakura will be decorated with the colorful flowers and fresh green. I believe that you will enjoy the unique beauty and peacefulness of this small area in spring.

A camera may be one of the magic tools for discovering the moments of wonder which lie hidden in our everyday lives.

With best regards,
