Another wonderful photo. I don't recall visiting this sub-temple, but there are so many in Kyoto. I can only imagine what it would be like to partake in a tea ceremony there, and to write a short poem. It would be fun to take this in B&W in the late evening, or to come back in autumn. You are lucky to live in such an amazing place to photograph and experience.

I see from your profile that you have great taste in jazz too. I love checking out jazz kissaten in evenings. Yokohama has some nice ones (and live jazz too). I don't think I found many in Kyoto, but I didn't know as much back when I was visiting Kansai. Aloha!

Dear Drew,

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I'm very glad you like my photos.

The garden of this sub-temple is renowned as a prime spot for autumn foliage, ablaze with brilliant colors in late fall. Unfortunately, when I visited the other day, the autumn colors had only just begun to show.

Every garden of the Rinzai-sect Zen-temple is thought to be designed not only to showcase the austere beauty of stone gardens but also to allow viewers to deeply experience the subtle natural beauty of each passing season.

Recent overtourism reduced my opportunities to visit Kyoto, but the traditional spirit of Japan that keeps deeply permeating this old city remains irreplaceable to me always.

Aloha and best regards,

Kunihiko
